Mr. Choo had a 130,000 SF office building with mountain/alpine architecture on a 15-acre site located in Scotts Valley, California, about 20 miles south of San Jose and the southern end of what is known as Silicon Valley. Scotts Valley was previously the headquarters location for Borland Software, a significant competitor to Microsoft before losing the software wars. However, the Target Store chain offered to acquire the property subject to re-entitling the property for a 130,000 SF Target Store. While the new retail project was in the process of becoming entitled, the 2008 downturn prevented Mr. Choo from supporting the property through the approval process and property was lost to foreclosure in 2008.
